A 30 minute PBS Christmas Special
Premiered at the Taos Film Festival, 1998

This documentary film portrays how the residents of New Mexico’s mountain towns celebrate Christmas by performing the historical “morality” play, “LOS PASTORES.” The film follows a troupe of townspeople from Taos on their journey through New Mexico and Colorado as they go from church to church in an old yellow school bus, performing the story of the Shepherds journey to see the Christ Child. This community endeavor was developed by two liturgical scholars, Arsenio Cordoba and Larry Torres, in an effort to revive and restore the religious practices and traditions of their forefathers.

This documentary was selected by the Smithsonian Institute for its 1999 exhibition on art and lifestyles in New Mexico.
